Wilderness First Aid (WFA) creates a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. This sixteen hour course focuses on basic skills necessary for responding to emergencies in the backcountry. We’ll cover response and assessment, survival skills, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, environmental emergencies, and medical emergencies.

This is an incredible course for teens and adults, not only will you gain the skills you need to care for people in remote locations, you will also have a fantastic time learning!

Fun and fast-moving, there will be a mix of classroom sessions, practice sessions and outdoor scenarios. Check out some of North Star Adventure’s program reviews!

Instructor Nancy Zane has more than 30 years of experience working, teaching, and playing in remote environments with youth and adults. In addition to teaching emergency medicine and the EMT program at the Waldo County Tech Center she is the founder of North Star Adventures where she guides private and public expeditions, day trips, and offers SOLO certification in wilderness medicine.

Course includes: Materials for practice scenarios, WFA book, WFA map, 2 year certification and instruction.

Snacks will be provided, bring a lunch and be prepared to be outside for the duration of the program.

Non-certification option — Sliding scale $95 – $75 per person.
